2017 Good Friday Race Day

GOOD FRIDAY RACE 2017 Well what a day – we have broken our record yet again and this year raised a whopping $15,523.00 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.

Words cannot express our thankyou to everyone who comes along and supports this event and makes it a “must attend” every year. Your entries on the day, donations, buying of raffle tickets and bids at the auctions and all the food eaten from the canteen, every bit of it goes into the money we donate to the Hospital. What an extraordinary effort.

To the thankyous for 2017:

• Firstly, to all the riders who entered and came along and raced on the day, we had a record number this year and you all provided some first class racing for everyone to watch.

• To the “mx” coaches who attended and raced for the crowd – they crowd loved it. • The all the “pro” riders who attended and provided once again, a fantastic spectacle to watch. The crowd were in awe of the racing from you guys.

• To Graham Smith “Smitty” who provided the commentary, once again a big thankyou, as it makes the races come to life. • To the various photographers who were taking shots of our big day, a big thankyou for your work as it provides us, as a club along with all the riders, a memory of the day.

• To all the spectators and families/friends who came along and watched and supported, also adds to the whole feel of the day.

• Our tireless committee that have put in so much behind the scenes for the last few months organising and getting this day together, it is a big task and takes a lot of time, but we got there and we certainly were one tired bunch by the end of the day. The girls in the canteen throughout the day, never stopped and once again for the second year a row, the canteen was “run dry” feeding the many hungry hoards.

• Josh Proctor for prepping our track for the day, absolutely awesome job, track was on point.

• A huge thankyou to Yarrive Konksy – from being our “auctioneer” for the day, raising some big money on the auction items and for all the donations from Yarrive himself – absolutely fantastic.and on top of that, had his head shaved as well, all in the name of raising money for “kids” – awesome.

• Steve from Caffeine Lab for providing everyone with much needed caffeine / tea and donating a % of his takings to this day and a tea/coffee hamper – awesome

• Neil Angus local MP – for giving up his time and for coming down to the track to support our Club and the event.

• Thankyou to Tim Vare from 811 Racing for taking our No. 1 supporter Jamie around the track for his annual Good Friday Race ride – it is the highlight of his year.

As said before, words cannot express our thanks to the companies, individuals and families that donate all the goods, services/vouchers that we put towards our auctions and raffles on the day. This is a huge part of the day on top of the racing and the money raised from this is an extraordinary part of the final donation.

What an extraordinary effort by everyone who attended and supported our day. So here’s to the thankyous. Thankyou to all the riders that entered/raced yesterday, it was extraordinary number of entrants. A big thankyou to Motorcycling Victoria’s President, Michael Burns who came out and supported and rode on the day as well with his son, thankyou for your support. We even had our “Local Member of Parliament” come down as well as the Herald Sun who took a couple of shots. This race day is also not just about the riding, but our auctions and raffles that we run thoughout the day. So words cannot express our thanks to the companies, business, individuals and families that donated goods, from big to small. Expensive to non expensive, it doesn’t matter because every single bit helps …I cannot name everybody here, but we will put a list up on our website with all donations. Fantastic. Thankyou to Yarrive Yonsky for running our auction items, some huge money was raised on those items. And lastly, to our wonderful committee what an absolute awesome effort every single one of you put into the day. From race track prep throughout the week, thankyou boys, to the girls at sign in, Greg at the gate and the enormous and hugely big effort from all the girls that helped out at the canteen all day, they were run off their feet, and never stopped, but kept going to feed the hoards, our cookers and fryers have never worked so hard before, to the point we ran out of hot food every early on. Thankyou to our Phil Brumby for the tireless effort he put into getting many of our donations from companies, awesome.
